  • Japanese Body Alignment for Better Movement, Performance, and Recovery

Feel the Difference in Just 5 Minutes

Understanding the Sacroiliac Joint and Body Balance

My specialty focuses on the sacroiliac (SI) joint and pelvic alignment — key elements that influence overall body balance and movement.

This approach is based on years of hands-on experience working with professional athletes and high-performance environments.

Understanding the Root Cause of Pain

To address pain effectively, it is essential to understand its underlying cause.

In many cases, the source of discomfort is not where the pain is felt, but how the body is functioning as a whole.

    A Common Misconception

Many people believe that lower back pain originates in the lower back itself.

However, in some cases, the root cause lies in the misalignment of the sacroiliac joint.

Addressing this underlying issue can help reduce unnecessary strain on the body.

What Causes Stress on the SI Joint?

Modern lifestyle plays a major role.

Long periods of sitting can cause the hip flexor muscles (such as the psoas) to tighten, reducing mobility and creating imbalance around the pelvis.

Over time, this leads to inefficient movement patterns and increased strain on the joints.

On the other hand, high levels of physical activity, sports, or impact can also place stress on the sacroiliac joint.

    The Role in Sports Performance

In sports, movement requires precise coordination between muscles and joints.

The pelvis acts as a central hub for balance and force transfer.

When the SI joint and surrounding muscles function well, movement becomes more efficient, recovery improves, and performance can be enhanced.

By improving flexibility, alignment, and coordination around the pelvis, athletes can move more freely and reduce unnecessary strain on the body.

I have had the privilege and good fortune of being treated on numerous occasions by Mr Shin. I have been receiving alignment treatments from him for several years and can attest to his skill and methods.

I suffer from S-curve scoliosis and have experienced increasing back pain and reduced mobility over time.

I also sustained a ligament injury at the base of my spine many years ago, which led me to undergo acupuncture and experience ongoing physical discomfort.

After seeking treatment from Mr Shin to realign my back and body, I noticed marked improvements in mobility, reduced pain, and greater flexibility in my movements.

As a professional classical singer and voice coach, I rely heavily on physical awareness and mobility, and require a pain-free back.

I am able to fully appreciate the level of precision, detail, and efficiency that Mr Shin brings to his sessions.

Through both my professional experience as a singer and my personal experience with many therapists over the years,

I believe Mr Shin has a deep understanding of muscle alignment that comes from extensive training and experience.

He always takes the time to clearly explain the issues and how he addresses them.

I strongly recommend Mr Shin to anyone seeking to improve their physical condition and overall well-being.

    Sincerely,

I am an airline pilot, a 36-year-old Singaporean male.

I developed moderate lower back pain due to long hours of sitting in the cockpit. This was compounded by poor posture, weak core muscles, and incorrect running techniques during my marathon training.

In 2011, I was diagnosed with scoliosis and degenerative bone disease, both of which are irreversible.

Before meeting Shin, I tried physiotherapy, acupuncture, and Pilates to improve my condition and reduce the pain. However, there was little improvement, and my quality of life deteriorated significantly. I relied on painkillers, felt easily frustrated, and was unable to exercise.

I was referred to Shin by another airline pilot. Through his treatment and guidance, my lower back pain gradually subsided, and I was able to stop taking painkillers.

With Shin’s continued treatment, I regained my health and was able to resume running and perform my work duties effectively.

I am very grateful for Shin’s help and strongly believe in his treatment.

    Thank you, Shin.

I had a recurrent Meniere's Disease condition and came to see Shin.
I could not turn my head to the right or to the left (particularly to the left), as it would cause my head to spin. I had to keep my head still in one position when going to bed, and I had difficulty sleeping. Even the slightest movements, especially when getting in and out of bed, would trigger dizziness and stop my daily activities. It was worst when I looked upwards.
Shin worked on my legs, arms, and along the spinal column. He was very effective in treating my shoulders, neck, and head. He also gave helpful advice on sleeping, sitting, and walking posture, as well as simple exercises to strengthen the muscles.
I followed his advice, including using bath towels to support my head and neck while sleeping, as he demonstrated. After a few months, my symptoms were gone.
I am very glad that I was recommended to Shin. My brother was also treated by Shin and now walks with a straight, balanced gait. The pain in his spine is gone.
We thank Shin for his dedicated care. He always provides practical advice to help people improve their condition.
We would certainly recommend him to anyone.
    Sincerely,
    May Lin

I am a 61-year-old male and have had recurring low back pain for the past 20 years.

Over the years, I was treated by my GP, mainly with painkillers and muscle relaxants to relieve the symptoms. Through his recommendation, I also underwent two cycles of physiotherapy (14 sessions each). However, the low back pain never went away.

In January 2014, following a recommendation from a colleague who is an airline pilot, I started treatment with Shin.

After almost three months and five sessions, I noticed a clear reduction in the recurrence of my low back pain.

Shin is very meticulous in his treatment and particularly skilled at identifying areas of muscle tension and spasms. After each session, I feel significant relief as the tightness is released.

I look forward to each session, as I can feel the benefits of improved pelvic alignment and muscle balance each time.

I have had problems with my back on and off for several years (since 2007). I often felt a numb sensation on the left side of my back when sitting.

Because my job requires long hours at a desk, the numbness became a daily occurrence. Concerned, I went to see a doctor at Tan Tock Seng Hospital in Singapore.

However, even after X-rays and other tests, nothing was found. I was recommended to see a physiotherapist, and although I followed the exercises I was given, the problem did not go away.

A friend then recommended me to Mr. Shin, who explained the possible misalignment of my pelvis and muscles.

After several sessions, I noticed that the numbness had gone away.

I believe that this treatment has merit and is worth consideration.

    Best regards,

I was referred to Shin by a friend in late 2012 after I mentioned that I had recurring pain in my left deltoid when lifting or rotating my arm. The pain was likely caused by strain from exercise, and it did not go away despite several weeks of rest.

In total, it took about five sessions of massage therapy (once every three weeks) for the pain to go away.

I have tried sports and deep tissue massages before, but the techniques used by Shin seem to keep my body in better balance.

While I am not exactly sure how Shin's technique works, my experience has been very good, and I strongly recommend him to anyone experiencing similar issues.

    Yours truly,

I went to see Shin for my severe back and neck problems in October 2012, strongly recommended by my friend to try him out.

My friend told me that Shin’s treatment is different, as he looks into muscle problems that cause these aches. He himself had benefited after seeing Shin.

I had MRI scans of my neck and back, which showed degeneration.

I had also undergone many acupuncture treatments, physiotherapy sessions, and massages to ease my pain, but nothing seemed to really help. However, after being treated by Shin, even after two sessions, I could see results. My back and neck pain reduced tremendously, and the pain became more bearable. I was able to go about my daily life without much discomfort.

The first time I saw him, he assessed me and explained that my left pelvic muscle was out of position and pulling my back. He adjusted it and also worked on the muscles around my neck and shoulders.

I used to wake up every morning with a very sore neck, but after Shin recommended that I sleep on a lower pillow (about one inch high) based on my neck curvature, I no longer wake up with neck pain.

I also brought my twenty-year-old son, who had been complaining of back pain, to see Shin. His chiropractor was unable to adjust his back and had suggested an X-ray, as she had not seen such stiffness in someone so young.

After about 3–4 sessions with Shin, my son's back stiffness improved significantly.

We both find Shin’s treatment very effective and would like to share this testimonial with others who may need such treatment and help.

    Yours sincerely,

In September 2012, I had been experiencing neck and shoulder problems for about a year.

My neck had difficulty turning to the left and right and was constantly painful. My friend, Lo Mee Mee, recommended that I see Mr Shin for treatment.

Mr Shin focused on my neck and shoulder blade areas. This was not like a typical spa massage — he knew exactly where to release muscle tightness. There was a particular spot around my neck where I felt the tension release. Although the pressure point treatment was painful at times, I experienced great relief afterwards.

He also assessed my sitting position and hand posture while working on the computer and corrected them. He advised me on the proper height of my chair and desk, and also recommended using towels to adjust my pillow height so that my neck could rest properly.

All of these helped resolve my neck and shoulder problems.

After a few sessions, along with correcting my posture and pillow height, I was able to turn my head left and right without pain. I no longer wake up with neck pain in the morning.

In January 2013, I had a root canal treatment on my back tooth (left pre-molar). I had been experiencing issues with that tooth for about 10 months.

Because of this, I was chewing more on the right side than the left, which caused my neck problem to return. Mr Shin explained that the pain was related to how I was using my jaw, and showed me how the jaw muscles are connected to the shoulder and neck muscles.

Now that my dental issue has been resolved, my neck and shoulder pain are gone.

    Sincerely,

    Ann Hong
